About ASHRAE Research
Proceeds from this event assist the Halifax Chapter with operations (including student scholarships) with a portion going to ASHRAE Research Canada.
Since 1960, ASHRAE has sponsored research studies at universities and research firms. The results of these studies have been used to prepare chapters in the ASHRAE Handbook series; as foundational material in special publications; in the formulation of standards; to train university students as they prepare for service in the HVAC&R industry; and to spread the knowledge gained through presentation at Society Conferences and publication in ASHRAE Transactions or conference proceedings.
ASHRAE currently has 59 active research projects.
The total value of these projects is $10.6 million.
Average cost: $159,696
Since 1959, ASHRAE has sponsored 907 projects with a combined value of $76 million.
Over the past few years ASHRAE Research has sponsored almost $1 million of reaserch in Region II (Eastern Canada).

- 6:00PM – Dinner and Awards will begin after our round of golf
- 8:00PM – Wrap Up
BBQ at the Clubhouse:
Thank you to MCA Consultants for once again hosting the BBQ lunch! This year it will be at the clubhouse, so arrive early to grab a burger before your round. Proceeds will be contributed to ASHRAE Research Canada.

Phil Cox Memorial Trophy
Phil Cox was one of the golf tournament organizers for over 25 years. He passed away suddenly in 2018. In recognition of his dedication to the event, the trophy has been named the Phil Cox Memorial Trophy.
Ed Brown (Center), at 100 years old, a member of the winning golf team in 2013. Ed participated in our annual Golf Tournament every year for almost 50 years.
The Chester Golf Club offers a fun challenge for players of all levels, whether you’re aiming for a personal best or simply enjoying the game.
Take in the beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, islands, and colorful sailboats as you play. Just be warned, the scenery might be so distracting that you miss a shot or two!

Registration Details
- Sponsorship packages can be purchased with or without golf or dinner packages
- Non-ASHRAE members cannot purchase tickets designated for ASHRAE Members
- Discounts are available for ASHRAE Student members
- Please bring at least $5 cash per golfer for the putting contest
- During checkout, you will be asked for details about your attendees and meal preferences
Dress Code
- Shoes must be worn at all times; shorts are acceptable, but must be dress type. Soft spikes only.
- Jeans are acceptable provided they are neat, not cut off, no gym or running shorts.
- For women no halter tops, no short shorts
- For men no sleeveless shirts and removal of shirts is not allowed.
Bus Transport Details
If you purchase the bus pickup option, there will be 4 predesignated locations for pickup and dropoff. Pick ups will commence at 10AM. Pick up locations at Burnside, Halifax and Bayers Lake. Limited spots available, so reserve your spot now! Proceeds donated to ASHRAE Research Canada.
